Philosophy

AASPA is dedicated to providing Suzuki Piano Basics educational workshops for teachers, students and parents. Every year, AASPA hosts a Suzuki Piano Basics workshop which includes teacher lessons, teacher lectures, student master class lessons and parent talks. Dr. Karen Hagberg of Rochester, N.Y., works closely with the Atlanta Association evaluating the Student Graduation videotapes for the past 7 years and conducts a workshop in Atlanta annually.. Other master teachers have included Bruce Anderson of Tampa, Florida and Bruce Boiney of Louisville, Kentucky.

Dr. Haruko Kataoka, founder of Suzuki Piano Basics came to Atlanta beginning in 1992, and continued teaching in Atlanta for 9 more workshops. Her last workshop in Atlanta was in August of 2002. Her influence through these workshops has been fundamental in the ongoing mission and direction of the Atlanta Area Suzuki Piano Association. Our goal is to continue to provide future workshops led by teachers who trained directly under Dr. Kataoka.
